Get Schooled on the Derby

Night School, the racing industry's national online fan education program, presents a special "Kentucky Derby Camp" edition on Thursday, May 3 at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Horse racing insiders will handicap the field, give opinions on perceived contenders and pretenders, and offer up wagering strategies.

The seminar will be hosted by Horse Player NOW's Joe Kristufek and on-site partners Jeremy Plonk and Caton Bredar, with Churchill Downs' track announcer and analyst Mark Johnson and BRISNET's director of marketing Ed DeRosa serving as a guest panelists.

Todd Pletcher, trainer of Kentucky Derby contenders Gemologist and El Padrino, Daily Racing Form analysts Andy Beyer and Mike Welsch, and Churchill Downs' Jill Byrne will offer video insight.

Presenting title sponsors for Night School are the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, American Quarter Horse Association, Keeneland, Churchill Downs, Inc. and Daily Racing Form. Thursday's session will be the twelfth of 40 Night School lesson plans throughout the 2012 season, which continues through November.

The 90-minute, free Night School sessions run regularly on Tuesdays from 8:30 to 10:00 p.m. ET, but additional Triple Crown "Camps" will also be offered on the Thursdays in advance of the Preakness Stakes (May 17) and Belmont Stakes (June 7).

Night School returns to it's regular Tuesday slot on May 8 with a course on "Money Management".
